REVIEW OF GLOBAL SWITCH EAST

Amito established a range of dedicated quarter racks and half racks in Global Switch London East in 2017. This was primarily driven by a number of service providers needing to connect to one of the two London Google Cloud Edge points of presence. We are ideally located in one of the buildings four carrier meet-me rooms.

Global Switch London East opened in 2002 – some time after the peak of the dot-com boom – which reflects the time taken to create this purpose-built site, located right next door to the Telehouse campus. The building was designed around large-scale wholesale customers consuming large volumes of capacity, e.g dedicated suites of 10,000 sq ft or more. Known tenants include Claranet, Datapipe, Fujitsu and more recently, Google.

Despite its size, Global Switch East doesn’t have the large numbers of small retail colocation customers found in other Docklands data centres. Therefore it is not a LINX site, but it does have a reasonable carrier list and good value dark fibre options are available across the road to Telehouse next door. The Google Edge point-of-presence is also bound to increase interest.
