DRT Sovereign House was part of Telecity until early 2016. As part of the agreement with European Commission, Equinix sold eight former Telecity sites to US-headquartered Digital Realty Trust (DRT). SOV was at one time the flagship data centre of Redbus. It features an established LINX node as well as a long carrier list and one of three London AWS Direct Connect nodes.

REVIEW OF DRT SOVEREIGN HOUSE

Having first opened in 2000, SOV is one of the longest established Docklands based colocation facilities. As a result, it features an impressive carrier list, including a LINX site with over 100 ports in use and more recently, one of three Amazon Direct Connect sites in London.

Due to its age, power density per cabinet is fairly low at a standard 2kW/10Amps per cabinet. However higher densities up to 3.5kW/16Amps are possible.

A bit like nearby Equinix LD8 (former Telecity HEX), SOV is often viewed as an alternative network connection ecosystem to Telehouse and it fills this role admirably. It also perhaps has the added benefit of many former Telecity employees still in situ at SOV following the DRT acquisition.
